Tell your friend to try and upgrade the Phones software and see if it works. She can download the Nokia Software Updater from the Nokia site, plug in here phone, and she can check if it has a new software/firmware and it will update. She will need to be connected to the internet.
I have noticed Nokia normally update their software every six or so months.
