Im also a strong advocate for people to be part of neighbourhood committees. A lot of these issues are solvable in the long term when communities around these areas come together. Im part of ours and its not easy but we are slowly making progress in improving the security in our area. The next step is to come together with other estates in our area and lodge a common complaint to the authorities. When you do this in large numbers they cannot ignore
Kenyans have been disillusioned and lost the sense of community power. Lets not wait for the police and the "govt". Believe you me, we can make a difference

I think reporting helps the police to know the cut to expect from the thugs(team mates)cause as you report you report how much they took,what else...bla bla bla.(If you report 10k,they definitely know how much to expect.)
It is not as if the police do not know,,, they know... and fear is they may be getting a cut... otherwise, with all these reports, why not lay a simple ambush using personal vehicles ??
The case above was reported, and the only response from police is, " Kwani you dont know that place is dangerous...?"
Matter was closed like that.
Writing statements in that OB book is like adding a greeting in a huge Christmas card (populated by several others of your relatives ) for your grandfather, who actually never reads them..
