The list is like a social network ....people connected by their love for IT related stuff.
But they are human beings and they are also interested with other things and needs.
When we need something we search for it...where else do you search,if its not around the people you value their opinion?
That is why guys ask for internship,they can advertise whatever they are selling,ask about tyres,discuss about samurai jack etc.
All those offtopic stuff sometimes make the list interesting.Too much technical stuff can sometimes get boring.
We can get the best of both worlds the technical and appreciate the social value we derive from the list.
Alternatively we can change the format,as suggested by John Doe.So off topic threads are labeled as others.
ever heard the statement "don't throw out the baby with the bath
water" ?that looks likw what's happening here. Due to some bad apples
a lot of positive stuff is being thrown out..
