Most def a marketing gimmick...but that's super-smart and you never see that in marketing 101. And now they wrote a letter wanting it back...all the while validating that it's actually theirs...
IMO they should have let the gizmodo guys have some time to check out its specs before disabling it remotely. That's a more interesting sales proposition for me...

Don't you just love the way Apple does it? I mean look at all the hype before the Ipad launch, then the new 4G iPhone ( if its true ) is found lying in a Bar?? how convenient that Gizmodo gets a hold of it and not a guy who would sell it at 100 bob in river road ... I believe Apple had the whole thing worked out .. its called testing waters before you take a dip ... they are just the best ... it was meant to be launched in June now there is enough time to build anxiety and first day sales will be in Hundreds of thousands ...
