Jimmy Mcafee's "Style" is more of restrictive than protection (guess they literally implement prevention is better than cure) but we are talking about how smart an antivirus is here (if i get the purpose of this conversation) , as for me ESET IS ,Kerspersky IS the MS Essentials are best at detecting and finding viruses ,configured correctly any antivirus (updated) will stop infection (going by the notion that all infections are user initiated) , now to the question that will put everything in perspective is ..to a novice who knows no better but wants to utilize their computer resources (RAM ,CPU) and be able to run any freeware that catches their attention ... if you can give an answer to which AV can do this then we will have the AV that will still be in business (that's how MS has survived the virus/blue screen/ data loss problems ) As for me my list stays as above ... reminds me i need to install an AV on my laptop ..been 2 months :) On Thu, May 17, 2012 at 8:27 AM, Jimmy Thuo <jimmy.thuo@gmail.com> wrote:
Have not heard anyone mention Mcafee. If properly configured, it can lock down a system airtight. Viruses won't even have a chance to infect.

I've always thought AVG is a good antivirus - though I dont use any since I left that world. For email scanning F-Secure has always been my favourite

Would you trust the same people who make an operating system that
allows
viruses to attack it to provide you with an anti-virus? How do you know/trust the anti-virus works properly?
@Brian, Who's more lethal; the guy who stands to lose all or the guy who has everything to gain?
@Peter, at the end of it all, everyone will praise their own moms' culinary skills. I doubt if there will be a general consensus on who emerges tops on this one. Whatever works for an individual, holds :)
