I am trying to find out if there is a proper/adequate infrastructure for ecommerce in this country. Are there Kenyan ecommerce sites and if so, how do they handle issues relating to electronic payments such as the mode of payment, security etc. How do the companies running the sites collaborate with the financial institutions to receive payments and how are the clients assured of receipt of their purchased goods? Is there appropriate legislation to handle issues arising from this kind of trade. Incase of a problem, are institutions that the customer or the legal entity can consult to resolve these in Kenya.
My biggest problem is electronic payments in this discussion. Putting up shopping carts might be easy, but in this beloved country, what electronic payments are possible. Any insight on this topic will be greatly appreciated.
