I have an iMac (on Mavericks) that immediately on boot, and after the apple logo, goes into a gray screen, and does not progress past this. A hardware test shows that nothing is wrong (though i know that this is a very basic test), and I am currently trying to do a restore from Time Machine backup (6 hours away). I am operating on the assumption that if it is a hardware error (video card/memory/HDD) it will show up at some point during the restore. This may be a very wrong assumption. So, in the meantime, has anyone on the list experienced anything like this? And how was it solved? Secondly, in case this does not work, who are the best guys in town for repair? Where best = reasonably priced + know what they are doing+will not tell me to wait forever to have it fixed? Thanks. Mek.
