Worked like a charm, a digital one! Thanks Samuel. On 11/24/10, Samuel Waithaka <samwaithaka@gmail.com> wrote:
Patrick,
This is what worked for me: (Wvdial bullied me enough with NO CARRIER..It was terrible)
I installed the usb-modeswitch: sudo apt-get install usb-modeswitch
I then unlocked the RUIM's PIN from the ZTE's interface (from a Windows machine); Disabling it from settings I can't remember exactly but it's easy to find. And that's it! The network manager did the rest; setting up a Mobile Broadband Connection.

Has anyone managed to setup the Orange CDMA ZTE AC2726 + usb-modeswitch(or edited /etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh) + Debian Linux (amd64) + Wvdial on the latest stable Kernel (2.6.36.1)?
I keep getting the NO CARRIER error when trying to dial in (Could this be a problem with the modem or the carrier?) . This issue was raised early this year and was not resolved. The ZTE manufacturers unfortunately only support the product upto 32 bit processors, and don't provide any source code - http://www.ztemt.com.cn/ennewzte/service/ziliao.action - see BSNL 8700 Dialer-For Linux Ubuntu804/810/904,Fedora9
The Huawei E220 GSM modem on Safaricom, Zain and Yu - works ok. _______________________________________________ Skunkworks mailing list Skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks ------------ Skunkworks Rules http://my.co.ke/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=94 ------------ Other services @ http://my.co.ke
