[Skunkworks] Time checker and instance recorder on media e.g. tv or radio

Hey skunks Got this challenge where someone wants to know how many his songs are played and what times on a certain media on radio or tv. How would I achieve this? A probable ideology would be to have a TV card then tune into the system, generate the signature of the content he wants to monitor on the station and have the media signal fed into the signature comparison tool (like the way Shazam does it).
