@Simon. As Alex suggested and I'll add, go online to a hosting provider and subscribe to a mail hosted service. Use this service as secondary, once migrated all accounts to it, take the primary down and go for a complete self hosted solution. Sometimes, ISPs too contribute to the spam mess.
 
@ Alex, the reason for the funny layouts is due to bandwidth usage. With cheaper bandwidth, there is no need for ISP hosting anymore.
