Configure you PC/Laptop for DHCP, connect your laptop to the LAN port of the router(not sure of the exact model you have), then you will get assigned an IP address in the range of the management IP. If you check the auto-assigned ip settings your gateway should be the router. Goodluck! R D

@James, if the router is new I think it must have a default http config utility. Therefore, setup on a network and http to the config page in the router. Set your basic parameters and set vty connection to allow telnet into box. Is this possible for you?
