Went to the Elite digital service center and they say that though I amunder warranty, they charge a service charge for macs not bought at their shops. And my warranty is still valid for harddisk replacement though.

I happen not to know where this macbook was bought just that the shop is in town. Would anyone know of an apple reseller in town?

I don't think installing any software on the Mac voids your warranty so bootcamp, Unix, etc on the Mac should be perfectly legal.
I believe warranty is usually on hardware. Software can be reinstalled.
