well said too steve,my first job too i offered to work without pay , its really frustrating i know at times if you have a bad employer especially but its a stepping stone to bigger things
A long time ago - I was lucky to read a book called "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" - in my last year of college about 3 years ago.
And there was a quote that said - "do not pass up a chance to learn and gain experience for the pursuit of money..."
It went on to say that, while you are still young and learning - it is okay to be employed for a while without pay, because 1) you are still finding out what you have to offer 2) you are building what you have to offer - so that when the time comes, you will have alot to tell your next employer, who shall value you based on your now bigger CV...
My first two and a half jobs [almost 1 year] - I must say I worked without pay,, its hard, but you get to catch on alot.
I am not critisizing, but I always advise guys from college to start somewhere, because times have changed, and this is the only way to penetrate the market - unless you get very lucky [no pun intended for this last statement :-) ] .
