One @tommakau has explained on his blog that bundles are not a product but an option. They are marketed like a product and treated as such but they are really just access to the resources of the network.
Remember that Safaricom, Airtel and Orange still own the SIM cards on our phones.
When having a Summit at the local pub (purely quality-based though), I always tell anyone who cares to listen 'Support Keroche Breweries, competition is good'Market dominance can be a bad thing; we already have several references on Queen Bee starting with the scrapping of Karibu postpay for making 'loses', raising M-Green tariffs, others in between, and now this.In a situation where you have two almost equal products or services to chose from, give the competition or the under-dog a chanceOn Sun, Mar 1, 2015 at 11:11 PM, Henry Kamabi via skunkworks <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:I say..its as if they decided to sit on a nail with bare !!!@@.This is a quite a move! Why couldnt they cap what we use on voice @ 20bob.On Sun, Mar 1, 2015 at 7:51 PM, Jangita Nyagudi via skunkworks <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:There are these companies several of which I've worked with, who give out loans and collect by MPesa (cash), and if that fails through Airtime. At one point they end up with millions shillings worth of airtime that they collect and need to convert to cash. So the easiest way is to offer discounted airtime back to subscribers and discounted internet. That's where the cheap bundles come from.I'm guessing Safaricom is trying to kill them off.My take...ᐧ

I also think Safaricom shouldn't bully it's customers.I have just realized that Sambaza Bundle has been capped to 20MB per day, and you can only sambaza 10MB in a single transaction - do that twice and the day is closed! Now, I have close to 1GB on my modem and I wanted to sambaza about 200MB to my phone. Three attempts and I am getting this strange error, only to call Safaricom CC and be shocked with the news. Here is the big question: If I go into a supermarket and buy 10Kgs of Sugar and pay for it, what business does the supermarket have in deciding what I can do with the Sugar?Once I buy 1,5GiB data bundle from Safaricom, what business does it still have in deciding whether I can use it on that SIM card or Sambaza it to others?Well, looks like Sambaza was a privilege that Safaricom could withdraw at any time? I did not read the T&Cs, but it doesn't seem right, even if people have been doing business with data bundles. Once you've paid for the bundles, you should be left alone, no?--Best regards,
