Saili stands for testing or assessment and is and open source application intended to be used by Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Candidates during preparation of their final examinations. Every thousands of students sit the KCPE exam and heavily rely on past papers for revision which most are hawked everywhere and some published in the newspaper. Saili is aiming to have the most comprehensive database of revision questions (over a million) complete with self testing for students and also printing sample test papers for teachers and schools in areas where access to information is limited. Anyone interested in the project can go to http://code.google.com/p/saili/ I settled with using Visual Basic 6 as its both fast on simple machines and accessible to majority of people and understood by many. Also the code can be converted easily to .net later on. The other language considered was Delphi/Pascal, unfortunately it may be difficult for most people to get their hands on a copy. I never considered Web based applications Internet accessibility is severely limited in the Kenyan context. Contributions need not be in form of code but can also be in the form of questions For more info go to http://code.google.com/p/saili/
