Anyway, I have Xperia X10i which I upgraded using the SE Software Suite. It's running Gingerbread 2.3.3.
The update for your model is http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/phones/xperia-mini-pro/ and you should not be afraid to brick your phone - you learn from the experience and you can always buy another:-)
