hi again,in my case, i am simply trying to deploy an application which has .NET 3.5 as a prerequisite. so when i try to install the application, it throws an error message when attempting to install .NET 3.5 and inevitably the process rolls back.
It also fails to install 3.5 when you run the .NET installer on its own (dotnetfx35 that can be downloaded from the Microsoft website). Keep in mind that i did not need to install visual studio 2008, i was simply deploying an application. To be sure there was nothing wrong with my Setup & deployment package and out of good measure, i tried to run the installation of visual studio,simply to see what would happen. My thinking was this was another way to get the .NET 3.5 that was needed in the beginning to get my application up and running.
Anyway, visual studio also failed to install. Which is why i am convinced that the problem here lies in the installation of either .NET 3.0 or 3.5.
