Martin, your achievements are well worthy of note but I think now you are just wallowing in self pity. Not very endearing! I am very involved with Nairobits and have seen the place grow since 2000 and even with the disadvantaged background that you or the Nairobits community may have experienced, you should not expect special treatment because of that. I know very many graduates of Nairobits that have excelled based on their skill and have grown in the industry as well, some more refined than others obviously but good grooming both in dress and manner is always a plus. As a business person my staff is my image to the world, how then shall I have a great designer that can hardly spell or communicate in English. How shall they take a brief and or communicate a concept to a customer? The point I hope am making is that it's one thing to come from a disadvantaged background and it's another to strive for excellence. I can tell you here and now, I cannot employ a guy simply because he is disadvantaged, (that falls under philanthropy) But I can assist a disadvantaged individual gain access to opportunity. The selection of that individual that knocks at my door (Amongst the 300+ others looking for similar opportunity ) will largely be determined by what 1st impression I get of them.... That's just life So finally, rather than hold grudges and try to justify mediocrity and self pity, may I encourage you to take note of the challenges you and your fellow graduates from Nairobits encounter in real life and be a mentor to them. I can tell from your eloquence that you are indeed not at the same level as the said applicant Kind regards, Paul From: skunkworks-bounces@lists.my.co.ke [mailto:skunkworks-bounces@lists.my.co.ke] On Behalf Of Kariuki Martin Sent: Monday, June 28, 2010 1:10 PM To: Skunkworks Mailing List Subject: Re: [Skunkworks] Application letter My mistake, gone to far. Well. I will hold grudges. And I speak on behalf of a community that is Nairobits graduates. Bright minds filled with scars. You should have thought deeply before pelting stones at such minds. And we can speak English to all of you who keep writing nonsense that we are good designers but still lack in grammar. I read your email while headed to elite to purchase a mac. But now I realize that a mac couldn't have looked too well in my single house down in Dandora. So I won't buy it. I will have gone against standards. Such machines belong to a certain group of people. right? But, I promise you man, We will succeed. In this life or the next!
