Let&#39;s also be look at it from the telco&#39;s point of view. The modems offered by Safaricom/Zain/Yu offer are subsidized by the aforementioned. Is it fair for me to subsidize something for you to use it with my competition?<div>

Its like the discounted hand-sets they sell with pre-paid lines.  Locking the modem forever is plain idiocy since cost recovery isnt happening for the life of the modem. The providers are behaving like crack-cocaine dealers when they insist on such lock-ins.</div>
