@Rad, while you are creating the mailing list/forum etc, if you'd like any assistance or guidance, l can try and offer my limited knowledge in this section. In the meantime, I'd like to share these
thoughts for the Kenyan C# &
ASP.NET action group/forum/list.
- Why is the
asp.net public segment penetration so poor? Most websites tend to have the .html and .php extensions. Is the reason open source purely became very successful in that web hosting companies in Africa got free access to hosting software? ISP's are generally known to be the worst interms of exploting Open Source mail servers or other open platforms to provide value added services with almost zero investments in tailored core solutions. Have businesses in Africa fully embraced the free power of Open Source for commercial gain that it is not possible to find a company that does
asp.net hosting?
- Mobile payment and SMS gateway systems are all based on open source. Do we have access to any functional API's that work for
asp.net and how can
asp.net make life easier for those who choose
asp.net as their preferred platform
- Website awareness is not a necessity in Africa. We would need to change this, ensure sensitive sites are certified and secure. How can we work in the future with the CCK or other authorities to get certificates that honour commitment to client security and integrity of transactions? The certificates create a trust level that would allow commited online transactions.
- Are there any existing CMS modues that work on
asp.net or is there a need to create some locally? Suppose we had a project that allows kenyans who simply need a basic website to create their own websites by adding the various editing features that a CMS system offers to the
asp.net environment. Therefore, we could start a new trend where a simple website is created at a click of a mouse action. This could be integrated onto hosting servers.
- What C# and
ASP.NET can do is almost limit less. What are our options of Mobile web? My opinion is that there is no need to create specific apps for various Mobile device platforms as most will do mobile web quite easily.
- With the Visa Platform offered by I & M bank, what API's do we have acces to or has the development need to be done?
Will add more once we have the group operational.
Rgds. :-)
