Microsoft Office is superior to open office in as far as use and features are concerned. So the Microsoft engineers being threatened by FOSS engineers is not plausible to me. What Kioko says is a more likely scenario with the Office guys thinking it is worthwhile to get linux users who are dissatisfied by the open source alternatives paying for the superior product.

The catch as always, will be that the free product they make will lack some vital add-ons or functionality that will require you to pay in order to use.

Consider this a gesture that the Office Product Engineers are really having a hard time keeping up with their Open Office(and the rest) counterparts or something of the sort.

So first, Microsoft chases everyone to use licensed Windows....then many people shift to Linux....now they want to develop linux version of their Office product?

How about if they just made Windows free like linux and keep everyone using their Office....then again....its about the $! No?

Have a wonderful week ahead.
