I phone works would be great

With a good connection to internet, you can share videos via drop box, write comprehensive news on a  note and email the note, as opposed to what I see with news gatherers where they sms the newsroom

Also you can take photos, attach to email and add a story to it , so that the web publishers stops having a mix up

Thanks

Oscar

Subject: Re: [Skunkworks] What is the best phone/gadget for a Kenyan field Journalist??

on Android this can be done with dropbox but that's not foolproof. as long as I can see the gadget, i will a) not open up or b) destroy it.

miniature cameras with huge storage are what are used. think jicho pevu

I hate being the one vouching for Windows phone when I get quite some issues using it. Am currently using a HTC HD2, it's not what you get with Android phones like the Galaxy S III (experience and all), but you have an option to get all images, videos and files sync with your skydrive account in realtime, that is ofcourse you are willing to pay the data costs this exposes you, and that you get a fast connection, true 3G.

I am not sure I have explored all options, but I dont know what that could compare with on other platforms, well iCloud on iPhone 4s could. But I havent used an iPhone to be able to comment. ION Samsung is working on S Cloud and LG with their cloud.

Ok. I am thinking of those nasty situations when a journalist is roughed up because of taking a photo/video of an incident, the camera is confiscated and film destroyed or tape erased by the you-know-who (not that I am scared on naming names, but it can be anyone!)

I suppose there are phones and/or apps which when used together can beat the nasty guys to their game.

Something like a photo/video is uploaded to the web in realtime as it is being taken.

I want such a device and I know you geeks know the answer.

Please take your time to think about this before responding with a suggestion. I better people don't respond if they have no clue, please.

Thanking you guys in advance.
