"There is no such thing as a free lunch" Use http://adblockplus.org/en/ Removes a lot of ads (saves bandwidth and speeds up your browsing). Not only GMail but everywhere. In GMail's case you can also start using an email client and use POP3 or IMAP to access your GMail account (quicker and free as well and no ads).
