Put the data you want on Dropbox, or Skydrive or Googledrive - perhaps? I've never had a tablet, so this is a guess.
Since you wrote the data on the external drive using a computer (I believe, because you don't know how to put data to it from a tablet), why not just use the computer to either:

1. put the data in 'the cloud' and access it using some compatible App for the tablet

2. write the data to a MicroSD and port that over to the tablet (if it has an SD card slot)
