Two years ago, I decided to migrate from a Creative set of speakers and at the time, the best two sub 600 USD receivers were the Denon AVR1912 and the Onkyo TX-NR609

 I elected to go the Denon way after lots of research. I've been using one for the past two years (when kids allow one to use it :) and it's been completely fabulous.

You can practically wire up anything with the i/o options. Here's a photo of the options available on the Denon AVR1912.

* You also have HDMI 1.4 which means you can use one remote control to control any other connected HDMI 1.4 device (e.g. your bluray player to control your TV..).

You have streaming from the net, DLNA, SPDIF input, Airplay, ethernet... etc
Have a look at the newer model in this line:

While you are at it, get yourself a decent set of speakers. Have a look at the Energy Take line.

@Collins

An AVR is the solution for you - decent ones come with 5 - 8 HDMI input ports and above and output video to TV/Projector and audio through speakers. The will also upscale video, and do all the amplification needed. General view is, the speakers bundled with a HTIB are in most cases pretty unusable with a AVR or even a simple audio amp - they cant handle an amp's output. Think of an AVR as an amplifier for audio (with video), while most HTIB's are, well... not really amps.

You simply cannot compare the connections on an AVR with those of a HTIB. The AVR's also add radio tuners - if that counts. There's also support for other zones with the AVR's...

And im guessing while we are at it,
Would the HT or AV receiver solve my HDMI issues? My tv has two ports, the dbox, zuku, and home theatre each has a hdmi, thinking of even adding a media player adds more nightmares cause i have to plug and unplug... Is there like a many to one configuration possible?

The basis of a home theatre, whether an HTIB or an AVR rig, is to achieve true surround sound. Anyone who's heard, eg  DTS surround, would never want to go back to "analogii".

Dennis, forget the confusion. Go for either the LG HT906 or Sony DAV-DZ950 . The DAV-SZ1000W has no Bluetooth!
If you want to spend more on features you really don't need like Blu-ray, then go for the BDV-N9100, not the N9900SH. The only difference between the N9900 and N9100 is a small feature about being able to filter out stadium noise and commentators when watching football - and the color of the speakers. If you ask me, it only makes sense to go for the N9xxx if you don't have a Smart TV. If you have a TV like the Sony W674A, then getting the N9xx or even the n8100w is redundant because they are just about connectivity to Sony Entertainment Network. Trust me, I did this research for you last evening - and so you owe me a cold one from Jeremiah's tanks!

Oh, you can now delve into the AVRs, if you like.

I've retreated for further consultation following the barrage of information received.

The downside of most AVRs seems to be lack of Bluetooth/DLNA support.

The Yamaha's seem to support lots of connectivity functions, though Bluetooth is only supported through a module costing $70 . Yamaha also bundles their AVRs with speakers.
