Pidgin is a multi-platform(Fedora, Linux, Windows, Mac OS)  chat client supporting XMPP(Gmail, Facebook), MSN, AIM, IRC and several if not all chat clients. 

It has a feature that allows you to send files directly to a person you are chatting with.
