the Internet (which we all begrudgingly accept exist). If we have a rotten society at the top it will definately trickle down to our children and since it's expensive for individuals to police the Internet, why not let the govt do it?
Are you naive enough to believe the "we are just filtering porn" snake oil sold by the chinese government ?
Could that be "all" the Chinese govt also wanted filtered? :-) I am looking at the filtering from the perspective that while it's a very important communication medium, the Internet also has it's very ugly sides which people need protection from. It could be porn, it could be culture, it could be social engineering - everything has a -ve side.
