Hi all, A few folks have noticed the downward trend of thread quality on the forum. To increase the S/N ratio of this mailing list, the admins have decided to start moderating threads that do not match the rules posted at http://my.co.ke/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=94. This will start taking effect as of midnight tonight EAT. Banned/moderated users will be listed in a topic under the same forum. Essentially, if your post is - Not IT centric, - Offtopic - SPAM - Obscene - Work positions/Product ads and solicitations
OK! So if 3 or 4 Java developers begin some Java Club to create a Java product as an exercise to improve their skills and reputations (business network) of all involved, they are out of order to announce it on Skunkworks? Forum....
Was at a presentation made by a South African firm yesterday. The issue of IT skills shortage in Kenya and globally came up. One of the problems cited is lack of internship to prepare students for the job market before they graduate. Some companies only know how to poach skilled workers but others create skills via internships. So if announcing internships is out of order on skunkworks .... The forum is a better platform for such a thing. Think about it. Would something like craiglist work better as a mailing list or as it is? The bulletin board is way better for such things. You only need to navigate to the proper topic to get relevant posting[s]. This way, you/I/anyone else doesn't need to trawl through their mail looking for a job/product. And better anyone new can easily locate previously discussed topics.. For example, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&q=skunkworks+%2Bwvdi...
