@Watson the ICT drive will definitely not be put away. Oil Industry is oil industry and in fact with the extra revenue from oil it simply means better infrastructure including communications @Peter you are way ahead of time. Exploiting an oil well isn't like exploiting a water well. 1st of all there might not be enough oil to make it commercially viable. Even if there is ls of oil building refineries, extraction plants testing of oil deposits, policies, enironmental, transport and other ifrustracture ... add dozens of other factors here ... you wont see the revenue from the oil until almost a decade from now. So this should affect Konza and will not affect the shilling and certainly no the Ocampo 4. You think the west will go easy on them coz of oil in Kenya? I think not. Too many countries are striking oil and the excitement out there is not what you think. Just look at Uganda Oil was discovered a couple of years ago. What has changed there so far that related to the oil? I suggest you go on business as usual and don't lose sleep over this coz 10 years is a long time. ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Peter Osotsi" <peter.osotsi@gmail.com> | To: "Skunkworks Mailing List" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> | Sent: Monday, March 26, 2012 5:52:44 PM | Subject: Re: [Skunkworks] Kenya oil discovery after Tullow Oil drill | | On the positive side, this might just be the breather we need to fill | the gap in the negative balance of payments thats beating our | shilling; and the expensive loans from China to finance Konza, we | might never need them anyway. Oil money and our highly educated and | hard working workforce (kinda the Japanese) will be enough to take us | there. | | I can see the shilling strengthening.
