Yesterday I discovered that KENIC has set up a NTP Server, ntp.kenic.or.ke, at KIXP "to provide a date and time integrity for computers". Reading more about time synchronisation with NTP on the Ubuntu help pages ( https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/serverguide/C/NTP.html) this line jump out at me: This page describes methods for keeping your computer's time accurate. *This is useful for servers, but is not necessary (or desirable) for desktop machines. *(emphasis own) Why would it not be desirable for desktop machines? What are the disadvantages to regularly checking your clock on a desktop as opposed to a server? -- Pamoja e:daudi.were@gmail.com <e%3Adaudi.were@gmail.com> skype: d.were
