Unless you are willing to setup your own SMS infrastructure( SMSC, MSS, HSS, BTS, BSC, etc), the same you have your own infrastructure for email, then the answer is no. You may start here http://openbts.org ./bernard On Mar 28, 2014 8:57 AM, "Tech List Kenya" <techlistkenya@gmail.com> wrote:
Hi guys,
First off, sorry for the horrible subject name. Maybe my explanation below will shed some light.
Does there exist an sms based intranet? You see the way, simplistically put, you have intranet for sending emails within the org and without necessarily having to connect to the "outside" world, is there a similar setup whereby employees, for instance can send and receive sms's within the organization, and without going through MSPs and still using the same phone numbers?
The way you can use your email to connect to both in and outside networks.
Is this even possible? If not, is it because of the underlying structure of SMS networks? Policy? The SMS technology itself? Profits?
Disclaimer: I haven't googled this Disclaimer no. 2: I am thinking how cool sms alerts for organizational communications would be without having to go through kina Safcom
