[Skunkworks] Satelite/DSTV Signals

Hi Satelite heads, I got myself a DSTV decoder DSD1110, problem is it is meant for the South African market and connects via the IS7 Satelite. This transmits on the Ku Band and only covers Southern Africa. My question is:

From a purely technical point of view,

1. Is it possible to change the frequency on which this decoder transmits and receieves to C band frequencies? 2. If this were possible, would the same smartcard still work? 3. Anyone out there who has tried this or knows where I can get resources about this kind of scenario? Cheers.
