The major determining factor is availability of connectivity Fiber or Microwave and protection for the same ... For locations without proper access KBC plans to go via satellite. What I admire most about the expansion plan is what the are calling local insertion. This is where you can have a station specific to an area say Mombasa (Baraka FM) , but will have the same countrywide coverage enjoyed by KBC or Citizen, nationwide coverage as a competitive advantage will be no more.

For the first time I was able to watch all channels on Stereo. The EPG (Electronics Product Guide) is pretty rudimentary (Read Chinese) but function. The picture quality is superb given that the transmitter is in Limuru, and you can tell the next program each day by scrolling the EPG by date and channel.
The only identified drawbacks are: -
- A number of TV stations have not connected to the headend so you have to contend with NO CNBC Africa (shame), KissTV and Classic TV (if you watch them).
- Most stations have not updated the Program Guide's so when the game was going on, was showing Now watching "Road To Success".
- Some TV Stations are encoding on MPEG2 so the picture quality and sound sucks. Wont name which lest am labeled Draconian ;-)
- Cost of the STB KES 7,700 (Costs 2000 more than a Linksys WRT Router). For critical mass the price needs to come down to less than KES 2,000.
Radio stations will be also available though currently only 4 stations are connected.
Next Project will be to get a PC, install Linux MCE and have a Home-brew PVR.
