Just had a chat with Paul, he'll make an update on the server situation - It is good news:-) Next meeting should be at the end of month. Phares I believe was taking a lead on that to discuss the cluster. There was a suggestion for a 3 day friday to sunday Internet Service Provider routing workshop or just pick a technology and do a deep dive on it - like ospf/bgp/is-is or something on systems - it depends on the community really but we need a way to collect information and use it for planning. The site is for us to post an entire years plan and increase collaboration. JGitau On Tue, Mar 12, 2013 at 11:51 AM, Adam Nelson <adam@varud.com> wrote:
That would help because I don't know when the next meetup is and would like to come :-)
The requirement would be a credit card. I don't mind using mine if I can get reimbursed ($15/month).
I don't mind setting it up either if people concur that it's a good idea for the short term.

P.S. - Somebody with DNS rights could also allow us to attach the site to a custom domain rather than a naked meetup.com host ( http://www.meetup.com/help/How-do-I-set-up-a-custom-domain-for-my-Meetup-Gro... ).

Adam, For the next meeting, we can host on meetup..does look like it has everything we need to start off...
If anyone has used and knows the interface maybe they can help us customize a page, have a look at all the features etc....

I know it's more fun to have a custom setup, but EANOG is the perfect candidate for something like Meetup.com. As an example, here is a Cisco group in NY:
http://www.meetup.com/Cisco-Networkers/
Using that site makes it easy to communicate with members who are coming to the physical meetup, to post pictures for publicity, and to make it easier for other network operators outside of Kenya to communicate with the group. In addition, it's much cheaper and involves less work than a custom setup.

Hey guys,
So for EANOG I am having an interesting issue. We need a low end server to host the site, where to host is sorted, I just need to get/buy/sponsor a low end server for this ie the sponsorship funding to buy it is also sorted. I just want this out of the way as soon as possible before end of March.
If anyone knows where I can get one please let me know. Something rackable, that can serve us for a while as we gain traction and traffic increases.
