Or configure self managed hotmail for business on domains.live.com, which will allow you to send emails with attachments to a limit of your stated 50MB, and act as a file sharing repository as suggested for emails greater than this, granting each user 25GB of document and personal file space. The rest is change management, policy and training.

I am talking of guys who will be sending large documents within their usual work schedules.
Currently they print the documents and send the documents in hard copy. They want to change the system to be sending soft copy.
I think I will implement the groupware. But you never know, I might get a better solution.
Most of the options you are giving are for It savvy guys and they are likely to pose challenges to guys having basic computer knowledge.

Layer 8 issues - like someone said - are normally not issue to solve 'globally' (for all users).

A DMS will surely solve the riddle. I am hoping there is one that can allow the (l)user to simply browse and pick the file, upload it to the server, then generate a unique url that the user can send forth to the recipient, who then simply clicks away and downloads the document - hoping bandwidth is made cheap by all providers:-)

Kimondo, if you decide to work on a solution, let's share ideas offlist.
