@eric, now that is some really, really bad news means my Paypal is now dead
On a related note. Did anyone notice that Co-op bank disabled the default visa payments from their visa-enabled cards? now one has to call them and authorize any transaction.--On Mon, Nov 15, 2010 at 6:33 PM, @dutchezjuma <dutchez8@gmail.com> wrote:

I agree... I did not mean to say that one shouldnt get a degree, meant to say that shouldnt be the end and it shouldnt measure you.
There is a lot more that comes with education than just the papers.
@Solomon, didnt 'oil' anyone... just got good referrals and probably I was at the right place at the right time...
I have actually mostly been self employed so that maybe one of the reasons why I have never had to present papers and when I got employed, the employer had evidence of my work and they actually needed me.

I know someone who dropped from a computer science when pursuing a degree in that because he was asked to redo a year
(pride etc) , and i remember the exact statement he used "degree is nothing these days ", well years later after we have cleared
he was doing small jobs here n there , but he cld not hold on to jobs because of lack of papers
so he did a certificate in what was pursuing , but with all the experience he had , he cld not move up , always earning the same range of salo
so NO David DEGREE IS NOT NOTHING
Where i am today , my degree played a big part in itOn Mon, Nov 15, 2010 at 5:54 PM, David Mugo <raidarmax@gmail.com> wrote:
Guys,
As far as am concerned, degrees these days mean nothing... its become something that everyone has. There is a time when having a degree was precious, now everyone has one, so its your intelligence and you capacity that takes you where you go.
I have NEVER at any one time presented my papers to anyone, I have worked and sat on the same table with and for very high profile people including Tanzania's president Jakaya Kikwete.
I have worked high profile jobs too, including my current one and still, NEVER presented my papers anywhere.

@imelda, there is no special skills required to be a bank teller, other than common sense, infact anyone with a degree whose doing that job is wasting themselves. On Mon, Nov 15, 2010 at 5:11 PM, Solomon Mburu Kamau <solo.mburu@gmail.com> wrote:

To confirm Imelda's statement, I saw that on a documentary on TV sometime back, where high school students are hired as interns to work in their various branches and have 'first hand' application of the banking sector.
Although I'm not sure how that led to a breakdown of services the whole day, well, unless one of the students stepped on a live wire!
