I think we as consumers of this products are too gullible. We are the ones who pay for services but when we are treated contrary to our expectations, we take such treatment lying low.

I think we should all take such people (like SMART TV) to court and set our demands right.

And on another note, can this equipment (DVB-T1) be reused maybe by changing it's firmware?

Just seen an article on todays Daily Nation Newspaper Zuqka page 10.
Honestly I am not surprised. 
At one point in August last year, I went to their offices to purchase a decoder with cash in hand, I was told to return the following day.
Definitely I didn't take them seriously after this event. Glad I didn't buy their locked DVB-T1 equipment.
Oh yah and another victory for DSTV through GOTV. Remember the ghost that is GTV.
