Hi,
Was there in FEB this year.
If you are driving - USE your GPS or Phone enabled GPS. - Road is not so good btwn Namamga and Arusha, mostly off road. After Arusha its smooth. Its pretty straight forward. Its a long drive average 10-12hrs Nbi - Dar
By Bus Depends on where you are boarding from. If its Nairobi via Namamga - I
recommend Dar Express ( Offices Behind Fire station - . Kshs 3000/- )departs
630am
If its Msa Coast to Dar - Use Lunga Lunga Route. By public means. There are shuttles
Make sure you have your YELLOW FEVER Jab, otherwise Tz customs will bring issues.( You will get this from any government hospital - or at City hall charges apply - Ranging from Kshs.1500 to 3000) - If not you can still have it at the border - But you might be in a crowd of people taking last min shots. - Time factor.
You can change your Money at the border- I recommend Kenyan side, there is an official Forex
inside the customs offices, DO NOT change on the road or in the bus. Exchange Rate Kshs.1 to Tshs18. You
can still do your banking in TZ. So long as your card is VISA enabled. - charges Apply. - Barclays is efficient.
Dar to Zanzi
Take Kilimanjaro Safaris (Azam), they operate Shuttle boats - Very Clean and reliable. - $ 30 - 50. (2hrs to Zanzi town)
Coming back Zanzibar town to Dar - Its slightly higher on the same boat
Zanzi town - Plenty of Vehicles for Car hire/ Taxi or Public means. If you
are in need of reliable locale contacts both in Dar and in Zanzi -let me know I will hook you up
hello Guys,
please advise if anyone has ever gone to zanzibar by road.
and whats the cost
