I recently encountered a case where someone did nothing to enter a code in any website and was subscribed. My sister-in-law who lives out of the country bought a SIM card 2 weeks ago and her airtime kept disappearing with these SMS's appearing. We went to Customer Care center at Sarit and she had to be unsubscribed from six of these short codes - and no explanation was given for a new SIM card all of a suddenly subscribing to all those services. ./Ok3ch Sent from my iPad On Jul 23, 2013, at 22:15, Kivuva <Kivuva@transworldafrica.com> wrote:
Probably somebody is working with somebody inside those telcos. This is a serious case, and I wish those few strange happenings can be discussed in the upcoming Internet Governance Forum.
Pardon me, but I still don't believe it's possible to be subscribed without you engaging your SIM card in accepting the offer. If that was not the case, then you are sitting on a goldmine. Run to Mutunga
