@Philip, @Okech I think you are missing the point. The issues here is not that anyone is discrediting the apple ecosystem, how good their products are or how well they integrate etc. The issue is that the iPhone 5 in itself has nothing new to offer. Nothing particularly new or innovative about it from the last 3 versions.

The reason people wait for these keynotes is not so that you can tell them how similar things are from the last keynote but rather whats new this time round. And in that respect, this was quite underwhelming.

I think the iPhone 5 is an incredible phone. I don't want to compare it to the phablets that every Android maker seems to be churning these days.

The iPhone 5 fits the profile of a phone that you can hold and operate comfortably. I think the thinner taller design is more suitable for phones that the wide 4.5" devices that seem to be the norm nowadays from the Android manufacturers.

If you don't use Apple products, probably you can never see or even understand the value proposition of Apple. The just don;t sell one product, they sell an ecosystem. Where you are using an iPhone, iPad on Apple TV, you will experience a standard intuitive interface with all these devices.

All the media, be it Apps, Music, Movies or TV Shows that you purchase on one device automatically appears on all these devices without any effort. If I buy a TV Show on my iPhone, when I get home, I will find it ready to watch on my Apple TV. I buy an App on my iPad,  moments later it appears on my iPhone.

So, for those looking for the wow factor in the iPhone 5, probably you are looking at the wrong place or you simply don't understand Apple and how they work.

And better still, the iOS still remains one of the most solid mobile operating systems.

The iTunes Store is also another reason why Apple thrives. The store accounts basically for almost 90% of all digital music sold in the world. And the factor that is works so seamlessly with all iOS devices makes it a major selling point for Apple devices. Google Play has a long way do go to ever be able compete with iTunes. The real competitors are actually Amazon and Walmart. Even with a lead in installation base, Android finds it hard to make the Play Store work.

I am not saying that Android is not good at all,  I believe they have come a long way. But along the way, they have also ceded too much ground to carriers and manufacturers that the Android experience is nothing but headache for most people. Also there is too much fragmentation of different Android versions. I was surprised to see even the newer Kindle Fire HD launched days ago will not even have the latest Android version. In the end, Android will become too big with too much fragmentation to work with and you will start to see companies like Amazon and Samsung actually looking to develop their own phone operating systems.
