@Dennis, Guess that's the difference between having the idea (Samsung/Sony) and implementing it (Apple). Apple filed<http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.html&r=1&p=1&f=G&l=50&d=PG01&S1=(20130181949.PGNR.+AND+20130718.PD.)&OS=dn/20130181949+and+pd/7/18/2013&RS=(DN/20130181949+AND+PD/20130718)>in Jan 2013 and less than a year later, have implemented it. Samsung filed<http://tech2.in.com/news/general/new-patent-confirms-fingerprint-sensor-for-nextgen-samsung-smartphones/874548>it in Jan 2012 (Approved in May 2013). Sony filed <http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17490629> for the same in Mar 2012. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter any more. Apple rolled the feature first, any implementations by competitors will be seen as copying On Wed, Sep 11, 2013 at 11:20 AM, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:
Colourful polycarbonate bodies have been copied from Nokia.
Fingerprint scanning has been on PCs for ages, makes you wonder why competitors never thought about porting it.
