LOL. nothing sinister guys. I just opened up the laptop and saw it looks rather strange (PIN assignment) so decided was safer quoting the P/N rather than generalizing I want a laptop HDD. I haven't checked if the below circled in red is just an adapter, will check later today.

If those are simply HDD's, why would one be so particular with getting an exact replacement? Company policy? Warranty Issues? Manufacturer specific attributes (eg Toshiba's encryption)?
