I actually did a bit of investigation on this..
From my end, google http servers seem to be the problem.
Case: I am able to imap by mails but my http gmail goes crazy (disconnects every 20 minutes) & google search does not work. Evolution is a breeze. So 1. Link to the net is ok 2. Google's imap servers ar ok 3. Maybe google http is bad. Traceroute and ping shows connectivity is good but wireshark gives me 1. TCP handshake is A-ok 2. I do a http get request 3. I get an ack for the request (no data in the ack packet) 4. I wait for ~1 minute. No data from the http server 5. Google sends me a fin (dropping my connection) 6. My broswer stares at me stupidly 7.
