Hello All Am not a linux expert per say,but i would like your comments Am currently using Windows and i intend to switch over to linux
I have two distros available with me.CentOS and Ubuntu. I need to have an enterprise class system that can do webserver, mailserver etc
Hi Cynthia, I have played around with so many Linux distros you can easily think am a linux-whore :) but i have also cheated on it with UNIX variants and Solaris. My perception is that you want a Linux Desktop as well as a platform for running your test for enterprise systems. I would recommend you go for Ubuntu for simple reasons, in this case it would be ideal for the desktop as it has current applications e.g OpenOffice 3 for *.docx support and also easy NTFS support, the last time checked CentOS/RHEL doesnt support NTFS by default. For the other applications you want to run i.e mail/web etc, the installations on Ubuntu for newbies is quite simple and the support available widely on the internet. CentOS/RHEL is a very good enterprise class OS but I have my reservation on using it as my daily desktop OS as most applications are older stable versions. If all the opinions in here still confuse you install one and virtualize the other, at least that is what I do. -- ˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙ 'spɹɐƃǝɹ ıʞnɾu pıʌɐp
