I happened to have been part of a QA team that was testing a "biometrics module" on a locally developed software, and whichever device you chose, if its going to be used on a flat surface (e.g. a table top or counter), then it is better if the part where the user places their finger is slanted downwards, and not flat. In our test, this <http://www.secugen.com/products/php.htm> (Secugen Hamster Plus and Hamster IV) was better (less time), this <http://www.futronic-tech.com/product_fs88h.html> (Futronic FS88H) was worse (more time), in terms of the number of minutes spent by a user to successfully get their finger scanned.
