Hey guys!! Managed to get Debian installed. Aparently i was using the wrong ISO. Note that the IA64 iso for debian is exclusively for the Intel Itanium processor which was what i was using. When installing Debian 6.0.6 64bit after the option to boot using DVD/CD all I get is a blank black screen with a blinking white cursor. I also have a DVD for Debian 5.0 32bit and when I try that the installer runs well. Also checked it with 32bit versions of Windows Server 2003 & Ubuntu Server 9 and can at least get to the installation menu. What could be causing this to happen with the 64bit installer?
