Can someone on the list can tell us how other implementations of ePapers have been done...for example, how has Rupert Murdoch done it? Are they replicas of the real thing?

Lawrence journal [ http://www2.ljworld.com/ ] does the exact opposite, i.e the hard copy is the exact replica of the online version. Works pretty well. Martin.
