I am running CentOs 5.5 kernel version 2.6.18 on Vmware but i cant seem to have the network work rather connect to my gateway.I have tried all i know

If I enter this command as the superuser:

service network restart

I get this:RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument

mii-tool brings back SIOCGMIIPHY on eth0 failed:operation not supported

now, before anybody asks questions like did you reboot, yes I rebooted, yes I restarted the network, and yes, I've looked at the ifcfg-eth0 file, and everything looks correct.

If anybody has run across this and has a *fix* for it, like a command or something, I thank you profusely in advance
