While Google is late to the cloud storage party, it has the resources to disrupt the market currently dominated by Dropbox.
I have been testing it for sometime since it's launch, and I find it does actually sync files to the cloud faster than Dropbox. All you need to do is download the Google Drive client and put the files you need to sync in a Google Drive folder at your home drive and then it will synch automatically. If you used Google Docs before, you will convert to Google Drive and Docs will no longer be available.
The current pricing is bit steep. Microsoft SkyDrive offers 25 GB of free storage, Drive offer 5 GB. Drive offers 25 GB for 2.49 a month and 100 GB for 4.99. Dropbox offer 50 GB for 99 per year and 100 GB for 199. You can get additional storage by referring friends. With SkyDrive, you get additional 20 GB (total 45 GB) for USD 10 per year, and additional 50 GB (total 75 GB) for 25 per year and additional 100 GB (total 125 GB) for USD 100 a year.
So it terms of pricing, Microsoft SkyDrive is definitely the winner here. But Dropbox is more usable and friendly. But I am also liking the simplicity of Google Drive and quick sync speeds. I have found the Windows Live Mesh used to sync to SkyDrive a bit cumbersome to work with.
If you were lucky enough to have bought the old storage plans, you will get to keep those forever if you keep you account in good terms and you do not upgrade or downgrade you account. And the good prices was good. I had bought 20 GB for USD 5 per year, now 25 GB will cost 2.49 USD per month.
