@BigBoss, :-)  a flash back from the past.....I'd suggest you to try what we used to do when dealing with semi-conductor/microchip problems You need to find a freezer spray to superchill to around -60F, this will change the semi-conductor state. This superchill spray was available from RS components in the UK. Alternatively, put the card into a small platic case and find a deep freezer to leave it overnight though your best bet would be the superchill spray. With the card super chilled, try to format it immediately. It just may work.. HTHs.
